If you haven't already, check out the entirety of Pak's run, and let the world of the Hulk, engage you.Īs Greg Pak’s fabulous five-year tenure as regular writer of THE INCREDIBLE HULK draws to a close, Bruce Banner’s ex-wife Betty Ross has just left him to run off to the kingdom of Subterranea with the Hulk’s old nemesis Tyrannus. But for the most part, Pak's stories are solid and fun, and take the Hulk to some really interesting places. Maybe because there are peaks and valleys. I think Pak's run on the book is not really talked about too much.

The book looks great and that's because of Pelletier's art. Pelletier has been on the book before and has provided some fantastic art for it in the past, so to bring him back for one last hurrah was really a smart move. The art by Paul Pelletier is really great and is a fitting send off to Paks time on the book.

When the dust settles, we see Bruce's true desire. This leads to Hulk fighting many of his rouges gallery in giant form, but more importantly, it leads to a wish from Betty, to give Bruce what he really wants, thinking that he wants to get rid of his Hulk persona. Of course, in classic fairy tale manner, the wishes usually have some kind of negative consequence or interpretation of them, so all chaos breaks loose. This volume has to do with a "wishing well" of sorts that grants the person or people who have touched the water, any of their wishes. He furthers the mythos by creating a whole new tapestry to build stories from using almost all of his cast up to that point, and some new characters as well. I think Pak's run overall showed a great love of the origins of the Hulk, but also built so much on top of that foundation. Greg Pak juggles every plot tread introduced on his tenure in this volume, and somehow is able to bring it to a nice and cohesive end. of a story and I mean it in a good way because it pretty much just says f it all and gives one of the best hulk stories bringing big monsters for hulk to smash and he doesn't hold back and maybe gets a happy ending with the person he loves most: Betty! And well in a way its sweet and a war on all sides and what not, and its an artistic buffet as you get some of the best artwork ever and a crazy wild story which furthers the enjoyment! Thats like the perfect summation of Pak's time on the book and I loved this one, this is his final story arc and basically involves some wishing well and how that brings different monsters like Bi-beast, Wendigo, Fin fang foom and Tyrannus and others and well they attack the Hulk and his family is in danger and then Umar gets involved, going to the dark dimension and finally this is the place where he can unleash his full energy and can he save the world from this wishing well of sorts and the story also involves Dr Strange, Amadeus and Red She-hulk primarily!
